First of all, let me say that I have no financial stake in this company - I'm just a satisfied customer and thought there might be others who are searching for a quality dust cover for their printer.

I just purchased an Epson 9880 and, as you might know, the rear-mounted roll holder necessitates a paper path that enters from the top, leaving a slot that allows dust to enter the innards of the printer. Not good. So I began looking for a dust cover that would look nice and be effective at keeping out the dust.

I found Digital Deck Covers ( http://digitaldeckcovers.com ) and their products seemed to be exactly what I needed. I sent them a measured drawing for the Epson 9880 and they made a custom cover that exactly matched my drawing.

I'm extremely pleased with it, and even though it was a custom job, the price was very reasonable - $205 including shipping.

I know there are other, cheaper alternatives (sheet, tarp, garbage bag, etc.) but if you want something that looks great, keeps your printer dust-free, and is custom-made to your exact specifications for a reasonable price, then you should definitely check out Digital Deck Covers.

but I'd be more concerned about material /fibers coming from the carpet, especially with any electrostatic charges building up in /around the machine.

I'm not crazy about their choice of colors, though. The indigo ones I bought have become more magenta, as is commonly the case with dark blue cars.

Ken, they kinda look like those thermal covers the church ladies throw over the casseroles for those covered-dish suppers!

Ouch! Check out http://prodigitalgear.com/- I'm pretty sure their covers are quite a bit cheaper, but seem to be of high quality. That said, I just us a plastic sheet.

Yes, I had seen the 9880 cover at prodigitalgear.com, but it has the big ugly EPSON logo and an advertisement for prodigitalgear on it (see http://www.prodigitalgear.com/cart/product....asp?prodID=347 ). Just plain ugly in my opinion. And the cost is $160.00 - not that much cheaper than what I got custom made to my exact specs.

I ordered a cover for my 7880 and there are several problems that I don't even know where to start. But aside from the fact that the nylon fabric I ordered did not have the PVC vinyl backing as the website stated it would, and the major fact that they flip-flopped the height dimension with the width, the communication has been absolutely horrible from the beginning of the ordering process and continues up until now as I try to resolve the screw-ups mentioned above.

I have called Courtney about 10 times, who I assume is the owner and who I've been corresponding with via email, and she has not once answered the phone. Furthermore, I have asked her repeatedly via email to call me so that I can discuss the specifications and the resolution of the mistakes. She has declined to call me. So at this point she appears to be flat-out ignoring me and I'm frustrated as all hell. What kind of business is this that someone won't actually get on the phone and call the customer when asked to do so? All I want is a new cover made that actually fits my printer or my money refunded, which she currently has in exchange for my useless cover.

Now what's crazy about all this is that I didn't even have a custom cover made as Scott did. The cover I ordered was directly from her catalog. So I assumed that the cover would be correct right from the get-go, but I now have the feeling that she's never even made a cover for an Epson large format printer other than Scott's, which is custom fitted and not based off the manufacturer's dimensions.

So...buyer beware!!!! Digital Deck Covers definitely does NOT get my recommendation!

Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time with them. I don't understand why Courtney isn't responding. She responded quickly to e-mails when I had questions about my custom cover.

I wish I could offer a suggestion, but I don't quite know what to say about your situation. Just try a few more times, keeping things civil and polite, and I can't imagine that she wouldn't respond.

It is what it is. It's now been over 48 hours with no response. So, I've called my credit card company and filed a dispute. My account will be credited, and Courtney will now have to deal with them. I wish it never had come to this, because I still want a dust cover for the printer.

What's strange about this whole thing is that we're both located in the Los Angeles area. You'd think that everything would have been flawless. But...some people run their business different than others. I, for one, would never have treated a customer the way that I've been treated.

When I was in the market for a cover, I googled printer dust covers, and I came across this thread. I viewed the various web sites mentioned and Digital Deck Covers seemed more in line with what I wanted. Using the information provided, I first emailed DDC and asked them for their on-file measurements for the Epson Stylus Photo 2880, which they sent to me. This information told me the measurements they had were not the measurements I wanted to use. So I emailed them back and asked them the process for creating a custom cover. I followed their process and in the order comments section, I also said DO NOT USE YOUR ON-FILE MEASUREMENTS. Within 24 hours they emailed me an invoice where I double checked, color, material and measurements. They all matched and I replied back confirming their information. Within a week I received my cover and color and measurements were right on. The material was a heavier nylon than what I was expecting, but that was a good thing. I would say my experience is the same as Scott's. I am very pleased with my cover and would order from them again.

My suggestion would be if you are going to order based on their measurements, ask them to email the measurements to you first so you can double check it is what you want. And be sure to check the invoice they email to you for color, material and measurements. If they don't hear from you after sending the invoice, they assume everything is ok and they will make, ship and charge you.

Not only should we should have taken the kind advice that Mike offered .. but we should also have taken heed of his warning too

Decided on the 12 Feb 2010 that we need to have some smart and practical dust covers for our digital archive system here in our UK studio.

Ordered and paid for two dust covers in the premium black quilted nylon (as a "trial run") from www.DigitalDeckCovers.com

If the covers proved to be professionally manufactured to a high standard, to our exact required measurements we would have then considered ordering more covers for the remainder of our studio systems.

We requested an additional "One and One Half an Inch" to be added to all of DigitalDeckCovers.com stated measurements - since DigitalDeckCovers quoted measurements were the actual physical sizes of the units to be covered.

The covers were dispatched from the USA using USPS to the UK, the covers arrived with the morning post on 19 Feb 2010.
(There were no tears/rips and/or damage to the packing materials).

The requested measurements were partially incorrect.
Instead of making the cover 7 1/2" in height - they only managed to make it a total of 5" in height ...
This cover is actually two and half inches short of the required measurements !





It is most evident that Digital Deck Covers have a serious quality control issue as well as "communication methods" that leave much to be desired ...

Why Digital Deck Covers choose to repeatedly ignore emails and not to communicate with their customers (problem-orders) is beyond the realms of logical comprehension !

It is a shame that we could not get any email responses from Digital Deck Covers for a return authorization !
We are now stuck with these "new covers needing repair" (at our own expense) and will have to locate a competent tailor to fix both the torn corners of the covers (including the installation of an extra two and half inches of material on to the bottom of scanner cover to make it long enough cover the scanner and its cork base sheeting).

I have with due respect, encountered superior standards of product manufacturing, including customer support services from organizations in developing (third world) countries !
I can still remember the days when very high quality products were Made With Pride In The USA

We genuinely wish that we could offer the same positive feedback for DigitaDeckCovers.com as 'Scott' and 'Digital Darkroom'.

Prices are cheap and they do quick turnaround on custom orders. I just received a cover for an Epson 3880 from them. I phoned in my order, since the dimensions I needed could not be entered into their web-based form (I wanted the rear side to have a 3" high gap to clear the power and ethernet cables).
