I find myself in a familiar position of wanting something that I cannot have and knowing little about it. I was very close to buying the Epson 4800 but became a little suspicious when they ran the paper rebate thinking they might be upgrading the model. I am now thinking they knew of the imagePROGRAF iPF5000 and that it might be a contender. All this is speculation. Michael wrote a paragraph while at PMA in his 30,000ft essay giving some good basic information but I was wondering what other tidbits there might be concerning this new product.

I was thinking about thinking about this printer until I discovered it's 40" wide - it would take major re-engineering of my work space to get this to fit.

The Epson 4800 is 33.4 inches wide so this adds another 7. Must be the extra ink cartridges. The Epson 7800 is 46 inches wide just for the record.

I guess I'll have to build a new house to hold one of these new 42- (or is it 64-color?) printers when my lowly 7-color 2200 gives up the ghost.
