I recently bought a Sony H5 and was interested in getting a wide angle lens for it but have seen some awful pictures taken using them - lots of fisheye, blurring and distortion around the edges.

I'm what would be considered a hobbyist and don't want to spend a lot of money on a 58mm wide angle lens, but I don't want to waste my money buying something that is completely useless either. The Sony lens offered for the H5 is 0.7x which I have read is not very "wide" appearing...still again I don't want to end up with fisheye by overdoing...so how wide is truly useful?

I've found a number of inexpensive W/A lenses at the newworldvideodirect website starting at around $49. Optics, Digital Concepts and Crystal Optics are inexpensive brands they sell. Would these all be junk? I really can't spend too much though - maybe $150 tops.

Any input would be appreciated!

Given the budget you're specifying, you're probably not going to be happy with any of the available options.

Thanks...I'll keep searching and maybe just take a chance on one.
