Full Version: The advantages of RAW shooting for bad weather

The photos on our left are those who have been treated for pop-up and to be nice ones.
But, as I wanted to translate the bad whether, the photos on the right are much better.
It was not raining, but it was a grey and overcast.
I started with the RAW files which allowed me to do so.
I sincerely think it would not be so as easy as if I had only JPGs.
I would like you to tell me what you think IYP.

Hello Accoreia,

RAW has many advantages, but I don't think that they play much for this particular application.

If you set the right white balance in camera when shooting and avoid having blown highlights, I don't see why jpg would not enable you to produce the darker images just as easily as raw.

Applying a simple curve is basically all it takes to do what you did, and it is going in the easy direction.

Honestly, shooting in the raw in bad weather doesn´t sound too tempting.... tongue.gif
