I would like to get my hands on some raw files from the ZD. Anyone know where some can be found? And are these TIFFs? I think they may be proprietary file types.

Also, any word on release dates in the US?

Thanks guys.

Try down a few in the Medium Format Digital Backs and Photography. Some full sized jpegs have been posted there so you have good odds of getting your hands on a raw file.

Hi Andrew,

The ZD does use a proprietary raw file format whose extension is .mef.

As far as I konw, the converters able to deal with that format are:

- the Mamiya own raw conversion software (version 1.3 soon to be released for Mac binary),
- Lightroom Beta 4.1 and ACR3.6,
- Silkypix 3.0 on both Intel and Mac Universal,
- RAW Developper 1.6 on Mac only,
- DC Raw

There have been rumours that Capture One v4.x might also support the ZD as part of the deal between Phase and Mamiya.

Today, most people use either Silkypix or Raw Developper it seems.

I might be able to send you a raw sample some time next week. You'll have to give me your email address privately though. Each file is about 37 MB, can your email provider deal with that? smile.gif

Cheers,

... and before he answers that, he should remember to multiply by 1.35 or so, to allow for encoding overhead in the e-mail. smile.gif
