Hi, has anyone any experience with the epson v700? I'm looking to get a scanner to digitize years worth of 35 and 6x7 transperancies. It doesn't make sense financially to spent too much on an antiquated technology but it would be nice to get good scans of my old stuff.

Have you read the review on www.photo-i.co.uk? It is pretty comprehensive and includes information on the V750 and its additional features. I've just ordered my own V700 and intend to custom profile it to get the best out of its capabilities. Cheers,
Gary.

A used drum scanner would probably be an exceedingly bad idea. The required annoual maintenance costs $5,000 or more, and they are very labour intensive to use. A new or used Imacon would be a much better choice if you're looking for that level of scanning quality.

You might look at Microtek's ArtixScan 120TF
http://www.microtekusa.com/as120tf.htmlI'm very happy with mine - now if I could only get on the next space shuttle mission and get away from the dust . . . . .
