I can't remember if I've drawn anyones attention to these two sites before, but both, in their quite different ways, strike me as worthy of second looks:

http://www.eoloperfido.com

http://www.chipforelli.com

Hope I didn't waste your time!

Thanks for the lead - such art gets the wheels churning. I find these inspirational.
James Godman
Thanks Rob-

Those guys do beautiful work!

Glad you got something out of the sites - inspirational without a doubt, but also a little daunting in the case of the Chip Forelli one: to make something simple say so much is quite a hard act to follow.

On the other hand, it did spur me out and about with the resulting shots which, elsewhere on the LuLa, gave rise to my focus assist question. Well, with or without assist, the shots look beautiful on the monitor, so well worth it, even if my subjects demanded colour in contrast to my preferred b/white mode of thinking.

That's the easy bit: next, the prints...

Glad you enjoyed the pics, there are so many sites that I like, so many times that Iīve been lifted to the skies and dashed back down to Earth when I think of my own meagre contribution to the world of images.

Someone whose work I like very much - heīs left us for that big landscape over yonder - is Michael Buselle.

Heīs at www.michael-buselle.com/ShowPictures.aspx?Cat ID=573

Another artist/photographer with a great eye, and still very much of this world, is Keith Laban at:

One might say Rob that your "meager contribution" has just been expanded greatly by sharing with others....

One might also say that if you are able to see the beauty in these other folks works then clearly you have "the eye" and likely have the pictures to prove it...whether yet taken or not.....

thanks for sharing

Not at all - wonderful photography to watch!

On Chip Forelli's site, after clicking the slideshow play button, right click and pick zoom in. The images will be comfortably larger.

Thankīs Neil, Chucks site is new to me. On a fast viewing, what comes over first is a refined sense of shape.

This one is a link to Wojtek Kwiatkowski. His own site isn't too great for photography, but he also has a large gallery over at photo.net.

If you like horse photography he's the man!

Here are the last 2 sites I've bookmarked apart from some of the ones above! biggrin.gif

This one is slighty disturbing, but very cleverly done

Really enjoyed a lot of the sites posted here --- the overall variety and quality in this thread is outstanding, --- considering the level of work posted here I thought some of you might enjoy Christopher Griffiths work at: www.christophergriffith.com

Giles Revell is also pushing the envelope, check out: www.gilesrevell.com

For urban landscapes Branislav Kropliak's work is painstakingly crafted: www.kropilak.com

Livebooks also publishes a site of the week thread that might be worth checking out for those of you that have time. Go to: http://www.livebooks.com/community/index.php

Enjoy -- cheers, L

Another one with simple, clean and very effective photography.

This was mentioned over at the online photographer ...

http://www.jindrichstreit.cz/

It takes a year to load and about as long to figure out how to get to the next image.

I give up. How do you get to the next image?

I see one and a half BW images on my screen, and some weird looking blue horizontal stripes that follow my mouse around. When I click anywhere, the stripes are replaced by shorter blue bars. When those are near the top, a white up-arrow appears (but does nothing), and when they are near the bottom, a white down-arrow appears. Clicking anywhere seems to do nothing.

Bizarre site, IMHO.
DarkPenguin
When you hover just right of the center of the page you'll get an arrow. Just click then. Should load the next image. But let the whole thing load first.

Well, I got it to work in Firefox. But it was very slow, and after all the effort I find most of the images pretty depressing.

But I really liked the http://www.cachelaphoto.com site that Rob C mentioned.
DarkPenguin
Yeah, but thats the thing, isn't it? Think to the era and location. Just fascinating.

I also like the Adrian Davis photography site.

Found another good one just now - belongs to one of our contributors:

Sometimes you just discover something thatīs so classic, so just right, that it makes you wonder why people try so hard to achieve a style etc. whereas somebody else just seems to be born with the instinct. Anyway, enjoy it!

Jonas attended the printing workshop Michael ran in April in Toronto and had with him the Paris portfolio prints. If I remember correctly I wasn't the only one blown away by his work - especially since the shots were made using a Nikon (300?) with a home-made lens!
Keep it up Jonas - great work!
Bob.

Thanks very much for the site: the work is beautiful. Interesting about the Leica MP... the quality jumps out. But then, with the wonders of digital manipulation even that Leica magic might be attained by other routes. I wonder which film stock/how he can still get it processed! In this world of ever-shrinking tradition it is lovely to see that art can still flourish and be of value beyond itself at the same time.

Thanks again for the buzz!
