Can anyone give me tips on shooting animals and landscapes? I have a Sony F717. Sometimes, there are deer that walk outside my house and I want to know how to take pics of them. If I get too close, they run away. How do I take good pics without scaring them away??

If you know roughly what time of day the deer pass by, you could get ready, hidden from their view, and then take shots without scaring them away

You could also shoot from a safer distance by using a filter-like tele adapter for you camera's lens.

You could also use the full animal in a landscape rather than attempt a "head shot." Check out images by Art Wolfe.

When I had a F717 I got one of these

Raynox 2020 Pro

Worked very well, but you have to have the camera on full zoom when using it.

Thing is, now DSLR's are cheap, an attachment like the Raynox 2020 might be false economy
