A hard question perhaps but...
I am looking for discreet shoulder bag so domke is my choice..it is hard to a find a shop with them all in stock to try my gear out in so before i track down a shop that does...
canon 1ds + 3 prime lenses (fairly compact zeiss / nikon), metz flash 45cl (could be canon flash if necessary) and a couple of filters.
a small notebook would be nice also!
does anyone have the same size setup and so can tell me which is the best domke that works for this kit...to fit just the above gear in....F2 or F6 or F3x..or one fo the J series equivalents..

I have the Domke F-3Xb and find it to be my favorite bag out of the 4-5 that I own. I tracked down a used black one for about $40, cut off all the tags, and it is now perfectly nondescript. There's not much padding, which is fine with me. I find that I can fit in 2 bodies (one w/ lens, one w/o), 2 additional lenses, a flash, and still have one side pocket open for extras or another small lens. I also find that due to the bag's simple canvas design, it doesn't feel overly large even when I just have a single body and an extra lens.
It really is the perfect small/medium sized over the shoulder shooting bag - especially if you don't want to draw attention to yourself.

I have used the Domke F-2 for 14 years now and it's still my favorite. It's amazing how much stuff you can get into it. 
And as Sheldon says; "..it doesn't feel overly large even when I just have a single body and an extra lens."

Get the Lil' Bigger Bag... The F1x I believe. You can never have enough bag.
Domke is a great choice. My Domke "Original" bag is going on twenty years old and is still in great shape.
Oh... my F1x holds two DSLR bodies (one with lens attached), a Canon 70-200mm f2.8, 100mm f2.8 Macro, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon Speedlight, Flash bracket, bubble blower, Audobon Society field guide for birds, close up filters, CF cards, extra batteries, etc.
The "Original" Bag will handle one DSLR (lens not attached), three lenses and the flash, plus a ton of small gadgets.
