Full Version: Lightroom and Phase One P30?

I tried to seach this and kept getting an error! Also, posted this in Lightroom Q&A. Wanted to get other Phase One user opinions. I'm shooting a P30 and wanting to use LR. At what point do I import to LR, after I develp raw in C1 PRo? Tried to import raw file into LR, but it didn't work. Will P30 be supported in future by LR? Just trying to see if any other Phase users are using LR. I've been on Aperature, but not using it anymore since moving to MFDB.

Any help appreciated.

They don't support the RAW file. C1 incorporates the back data burned into the firmware (the back calibration table), so I suspect they'll keep that a closed system.

???? where did that come from? LR beta reads P30 raw files...the only problem is that it cuts off 15% on the side (or bottom)...other then that it works beautifully....as far as i know P45 files are no problem at all...
the final LR version 1 (which comes out on the 19th) will have full support of phase files....i asked about this in the LR forum and the man himself provided that info....
there is quite a bit of info in this forum and in the LR forum...just do a search....
i am not sure sure if LR reads the compressed (raw small) phase files...i never shoot them, so never tried that...if you get the error with those files, try shooting raw L.....btw: i am on a mac, but that should not make a difference....

Sorry for the mis-information. Adobe doesn't list the Phase One backs as supported (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html), so is Adobe reverse engineering this, or are Phase One and Adobe working together on this.

The lightroom beta will read the P-30 files, shot on large or small (well most of the time). I had one instance where they would read the previews then just go to pink noise, but the last project I shot I could see them in lightroom and process, though as paul mentioned you lose 15% of the bottom side so the beta version really isn't workable.

So far it's not a deal breaker for Phase users as we have C-1 which is pretty much the gold standard for now.

Given all of this I have high hopes for lightroom, though until it's in final release none of us will know.

It would be nice if Phase and/or Adobe made a statement as to what the intentions are of reading the Phase files of all flavors. Lightroom isn't that expensive, but it's still a pain to buy something only to find out you camera(s) are not fully supported.

The Lightroom V1 Demo is available for download now, and a new version of ACR 3.7, and there is more confirmation that Lightroom now (unofficially) supports Phase1 files.

james...V1 shows the whole file..i have only been on it a couple of hours....but it really gives C1 a run for the money...processed files look phantastic....the new features (local HSL AND curves adjustments are brilliant!!!!!)....everything works well....
i know that C1v4 is around the corner and i will proably use both anyway, but i am not so sure about phase's "profile system" of color correction anymore....the coloreditor is great, but not even half as nice as the possibilities of LR....i guess we will see how C1 will catch up....
i only really started working in LR because i had a shoot where i just could not get the right color feel in C1....the nuances just never seemed right....
tried in LR and got deeper and deeper...and the colors are right on....just had to wait until today to process:)

I have only one word for LR 1.0 - brilliant!!!

Finally I can see the whole picture with my P30.

From now on, I will use LR for develop and C1 only for capture thetered.

Good to hear!

We use Lightroom with the Leaf for still-life, we are very pleased with the results and its speed.

i thought i would never say that, but same here....i have been working with LR all day and so far it is simply amazing....until C1v4 comes out, i will keep the phase folder structure (i guess as long as i shoot tethered i will have to anyway...) LR really is the missing lick between C1 and PS.....
imagine a C1 tab in LR....

I posted this in LR forum, but I know it will get answered here quicker. Does version 1 allow the use of dual screens for editing. I think that the one screen is kind of crammed unless your on the 30" monitor. If I could use LR with 2 screens them I'm buying it! Love that you can now see all of a P30 file.

No - you're just going to have to get that 30" screen

i really hope for a aperture style "lightbox" window in LR1.1....would be perfect for the second screen....
buy LR anyway..it rocks....use the "macworld07" coupon....i forgot (was too excited)...it makes LR 170.-...easily worth twice as much..even v1...

Thanks for the coupon code! Can't believe that you're unable to use dual screens, what were they thinking? I'll purchase anyway for workflow.

Any body know if it is possible to make a drop folder like for Aperture?
To shoot tethered and have the pictures come into Lightroom automatically?
Thanks for any heads up.

And does it work pretty well?
I have never seen that , Thank you?
Have you tried it with a C-1 capture folder?
Sorry but not in my studio today and start a catalogue next week (1DsMII) so won't be able to try it for a while but was curios if it works well?
Thank you again
