I am considering the Schneider 47mm Apo XL but have heard the Rodenstock 55mm Apo digital lens is supposed to be outstanding.

Does anyone have both these lenses? Has anyone compared their optics?

I heard the same story but found Rodenstock 55mm Apo digital to be unavailable for ALPA. However, they will make it if I am to make a commitment and provide them with security deposit. Even so, their advise was against it as the selection available contains already much better options then Rodenstock 55mm Apo digital.

It will certainly be interesting if we can get some input on the Rodenstock 55mm Apo digital, perhaps even few images.

when i bought my lenses i had also some weeks a 55digital even adapted on the gottschalt.
i returned it and went on with the 60HR, cause as you know i am a HR fan. same about the 35digital, here i was holding the 35HR and returining the 35 digital. the 55digital is similar good than the 45 digital ( which i stll have ), in my opinion also similar good as the schneider xl serial.

Rehniar--- Can you clarify... you said the rodenstock digital HRs are similar or as good as the Schneider digitars in your comparisons.

no i did not. i say the rodenstock / sinar digital lenses are comparable with the schneider digitar xl serial in terms of image corcle, fall off and overall quality.

the HR lenses are very different here from their basic concept and have no pendant in medium format lenses at the moment. they are sharp wide open also and have very hi resolving capacity, the other ( digital and XL ) lenses want to be stopped down the usual two stops, but have larger image circle, except the 24xl.

That was my understanding as well. However, i have not had the ability to do my own comparisons.. Mark
