Hello All,

Anyone using Phase One files with Lightroom?

I tried with ACR in C2 a few months ago and it wasn't working well.

I have read of some people using it well and I have heard of others having big problems with it.

Anyone want to chime in?

Thanks in Advance!

It works very well with my P30 files now that the official version is out.

Michael,

Thanks for your response. Do you use C1 Pro at all anymore?

I have read some people only use it for tethering.

Thanks,

RA

i use LR with my P30 files exclusively now....works perfectly...only use C1 for tethered but also through LR (watched folder)....i never really liked the PS conversions either....but the latest version of CR really is equal to C1.....i might use C1 for some things, but so far that hasn't come up...LR all the way.....

If I evaluate images from C1 vs Lightroom (or CR 4.0) strictly from an image qauality perspective then I give an edge to C1. But from a workflow and versatility perspective Lightroom is the hands-down winner. I have therefore found myself using Lightroom about 98% of the time in recent months.

How Capture One 4.0 will compare remains to be seen.

will all Phase files work in Lightroom - like my H25?

Dear Michael

I too like the LR workflow, but C1 seems to give a better rendering, but not by much.

The problem I have had with P45 files in LR is that they sometimes lock into a 'fuzzy' zoomed image, that is deosnt complete the rendering. Doesnt say it is out of memory (though I have hit that as well. C1 never reaches an out of memory, and I am with 4 GB memory on 64 bit machine though running only 32 bit MS windows XP pro.

Have others had the zoom problem with large files (like 200megs?)

I tried to export my P25 files to DNG and it lost all the settings I'd just set, apart from the crops. I just wanted to embed the xmp sidecar files that Lightroom had created. Are there any workaround solutions for this? It's a shame to have to start all over again :-(

The P25 support in version 1 is not fully implemented. I provided Thomas Knoll with some files that did not honor the dead pixel mapping in V1. This has subsequently been fixed but will not make an appearance until they ship the first update. The as-shot white balance is also quite far off and hopefully will see improvement as well.

Thanks for this info. Really good news about dead pixel mapping etc. I'll get LR while it's cheap and go for the 1.0.1 download when it is released.

When comparing Lightroom with Raw Developper for my ZD files, I see a lot more fringing issues in Lightroom.

This is especially visible with branches against a light background for instance.

Are there no such issues with P25 files? Or is there a way to deal with this?

Regards,
Bernard

Bernard-

Since the P25 support is not quite there yet, I haven't been super critical in my evaluation. But in my casual examination of various images, it doesn't seem to be an issue.

One other thing to consider: From what I understand, if you use the LCC feature in C1, it is not available in Lightroom.
