I'll be reviewing portfolios at Review Santa Fe and am looking for anyone's suggestions for locations to wander to and shoot Sunday morning, May 20. I'll have from dawn in Santa Fe until noon at the Albuquerque airport. I'd love a clear sky and some amazing light, and would love to hear anyone's suggestions to where I might point my rental car that morning. I've never been to that quadrant of the country and since my time is limited, I thought I'd tap into this well of knowledge!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Chris,

I would suggest Kasha Katuwe - Tent Rocks National Monument located between Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

Yup, that's about it for anything real interesting from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. Much past that and not all that interesting (closer you get to Albuquerque). The weather has been spectacular lately.

If history interests you, there are also segments of the Camino Real, US Cavalry encampment sites and one of the best petroglyph sites in New Mexico. Email me, I might be around then.

Great suggestions, all!

Out of curiosity, do the U.S. Calvary sites have a place on the web? We're working a HUGE book on the Army, over the next 2 years or so, and that might be an interesting diversion as well. Depending on what they have there, it might even warrant an extra night's stay.

The area has always had such a reputation for artists and photographers that I'm excited to spend a few days there, even if most of it is scripted.

Thanks!
