Recently purchased an S2 pro. My main queries so far are:

This camera has over 6 effective magapixels and over 12 recorded pixels. I dont know the difference between this jargon and how i can produce images of the 12 recorded mega pixels to the same level of quality of a 12 effective mega pixel camera?

In the function menu i have 3 settings for colour, tone and sharpening. So far i have been using all these settings in high colour, hard tone and hard sharpening. Can anyone advise me please on the best settings to use for most shots especially lanscapes and macro work. And is there any rule of thumb for these settings.

Fujimike,

I've had an S2 for a few years. Have almost always shot all "std" setings, and worried about changes in photoshop.
The issue with the 6 vs 12 is a bit confusing. The sensor has pixels on a diagonal, vs square like most others. Most people say this can actually give better resolution, to about 8 mps. Just shoot at the highest settings, before raw. I think you can save as a TIFF, which would be good.

HOPe that helps a bit.
