I just found this Shade for the Leaf Aptus.
Thought it would be interesting for Aptus owners.

The cost is $ 225 and can be found here:

I am curious how this does for those bright sunlite times when it is very difficult to see the back. Also I tend to use my finger to use the touch screen. How might this interfere

That's what it is for; to use in bright outdoor light. It is very effective and solidly build.
To use the touch screen you just push the bellows in, which you have to do anyway; otherwise it is in the way when looking through the viewfinder.

The Aptus screen is very difficult to see in sunlight, so this is very useful.

I understand the intended use. i just wonder how effective it was in allowing one to see in sunlite situations. Also, many people use the stylus for the touch screen and I wondered that even when you push in the bellows is it feasible to use your finger to touch the screens (expecially at the edges) with your fingertip. It is in effect more difficult to access the edges of the screen. You have to use the fingernail at the edges, but it works. It is easier with the stylus but I use the finger as well.
However, rather than not seeing anything at all on the screen I can live with that.
Also it is not cheap, but then what isn't with medium format digital?

Take care

Here is the link to their company. However i do not see one product that would work as the one stated above for the leaf back

I've had the bellows shade (distributed by the Canham's) for several weeks. It is incredibly light weight, folds to the eyepiece on my Contax (about 3/4") and extends and keeps it's position out to about 3 1/2".

I can operate the touch screen with my finger or with the stylus when the shade is extended. The shade is enough to make a difference in bright sunlight, as long as you don't stand in the sunshine with a white shirt on, so be reasonable in your viewing practice.

In addition it matches the finish on the Aptus and locks securely in place within the detents for the LCD cover.

email them, they do have a product for leaf and other backs. not as pretty as the other shade listed but a huge savings.

I guess $ 225 wont break the bank when you got a $30.000 camera system.

And this is exactly the response I suspect their business plan thought of when pricing it.

It's admittedly a useful and thoughtful accesory, but at £225 I'm not playing ball.
It's a bit of bellows stuck on a plastic frame with a couple of clips to fit existing clip grooves on the back. Not exaclty going to have had particuarly high R&D are they?

Sorry, but IMO, I feel that some companies view the word "professional" as an excuse to take the piss with pricing.

Sorry, rant over dry.gif

E2A: I've just followed some links from the original post - they are actually made by a UK company
Camera Bellows

Although not listed on their site at present, I've emailed them to ask how much it is direct from them.
Their other products do actually seem reasonably priced so I'll take back my initial critisism if it turns out that it's Canham Shades marking up.
