I am too late to help you, but some of my favorite places to shoot in the Charleston area are the Old Sheldon Church ruins (about a half hour from Charleston) are fantastic. I am going back there soon. The old Charleston Lighthouse can be seen from a couple of good locations. Magnolia Plantation has some nice opportunities for floral, wildlife, and landscape shots.

Charleston is amazing. Can't go wrong there with or without location advice.
