Full Version: MF Lens Adapter For Nikon Or Canon DSLRs?

Hi All. Does anyone know of any lens adapters that allow MF lenses to be used on either a Nikon or a Canon DSLR? I'm mostly interested in Contax Zeiss lenses and Rollei Zeiss and Schneider lenses.

I'm shopping around for a MF system and I'm wondering what I'm going to use for backup. I can't just buy a second back :-) So I'm wondering if I could just bring along a Nikon or Canon DSLR and an adapter, and use the MF lenses. I'd rather not drag two different lens kits around with me due to weight concerns.

Thanks,
Hans.

Hi All. Does anyone know of any lens adapters that allow MF lenses to be used on either a Nikon or a Canon DSLR? I'm mostly interested in Contax Zeiss lenses and Rollei Zeiss and Schneider lenses.

After a little looking, I found a Novaflex adapter that allows use of Mamiya 645 lenses on Canon and Nikon mounts. The Canon adapeter part number is "MAMRING + CANA-AF" and the Nikon adapeter part number is "MAMRING + NIKA". So far I haven't found an adapter for the Contax Zeiss lenses or the Rollei Zeiss and Schneider lenses.

Even if you could add a small DSLR as a backup, the crop factor would be so high that your MF wide angles would become telephoto. In other words, if you needed a normal or wide angle for the shot, it wouldn't help.

You may as well get a general purpose zoom for the second camera, rather than try to use MF lenses.

Finally there is no adapter for the Rollei lenses.

There is an adapter to use CF lenses on a Nikon (actually there are several vendors of these things). Do a search on Ebay for F mount adapters and you will probably find them.
