Hi All,
Wanted to buy a 1ds2 and lenses, thought about used since the Mark3 is around the corner- What, other than the usual, should I be wary of if buying used- Probably would buy from a dealer not individual.
Also, in everyone' s experience, what zooms are the sharpest? Looking for the fastest lenses available.
Thanks!!
Whit
Might be worth waiting till the mkIII is announced as the market will plummet. Make sure to check the actuation count, this is pretty easy with the 1 series and will give you an idea as to how much use the camera has seen, a studio camera may look pristine but have had a lot of use for example.
Zooms wise I've only used the 5D but the 24-70 and all versions of the 70-200L are still good with the higher resolution FF chips, the jury is still out on the new 16-35L II but don't hold your breath, the 17-40L is OK but not in the same league as the first two mentioned. There aren't really any other Canon zooms out there that fit into the catagory of sharp with a 1Ds mkII, longer is prime territory and the competitors to the 24-70L and 70-200L just don't really make the grade if ultimate sharpness in a zoom is your goal.
