Anyone see why using a powered firewire hub with a 9V dc battery as the power source instead of the 9V dc power adapter wouldn't work? I'm planning on using a iogear 3 port hub to extend the length of my FW cables when capturing and noticed that the adapter was 9V's. So.....

Anyone else using the hub.... experiences?

cheers

How far do you want to go? I've had zero problems using a 32 foot firewire cable over the last few years with a 1Ds and 1DsMKII.

When using a macbook (battery) with a 16foot cable I sometimes have problems when connecting a leaf aptus65. It doesn't seem to be the cables (I was test the setup at the leaf supplier and went through 6 cables). I have read alot of others that have had problems with similar setups.

What you think should it work? The hub manual states that the power consumption is 11mW and an alkaline 9V battery is rated at around 500mA/h. So I'm hoping that I can get an 8 hour day from a battery.
