Guys,

Just a quick note for those of you who are PG customers-we've released RCs (release candidates) for our three main products; PhotoKit, PhotoKit Sharpener & PhotoKit Color 2 for both Mac and Windows for Photoshop CS3 compatibility.

Also note we've changed our serial number scheme to be cross-platform (but had to add activation to do so). While these are only RCs (we think we've got everything done-but we need to make sure before we call them GMs), anybody who is running CS3 will want to get these updates...they're free. These are only NEEDED if you are running CS3 on Mac or Windows or running CS2 under Vista.

There is one known issue-if you have an adjustment layer targeted, our products become unavailable. We're pretty sure this is a Photoshop CS3 bug-but we're still investigating...the work around is to make sure you target a pixel based layer and not an adjustment layer to start.

Thanks for the updates but I'm a little confused because I was able to move both the Sharpener and Color Kits from CS2 to CS3 on my Windows XP computer. They seemed to be working - what's new or different?

For CS3 on XP SP/2 you don't _NEED_ to update but you should...since there were a couple of bug fixes specific to CS3...the most critical reason to update is for CS3 running under Vista and you'll HAVE to update to the RCs if you are running CS3 on a Mac (either Intel or PPC).

Well, must be my unlucky day.

Updated to the RC under WinXP-SP2 and it won't authorize. Tried manual authorization via the website too.

I actually have purchased both Mac copy and Win copy (before the move to platform agnostic licenses - good move PG!). The Mac authorized just fine.

Needles to say I ain't a big fan of authorization!

We're looking into issues on Windows as well as PhotoKit Sharpener-is this what you were having problems with? Back when we tried activation before some users may have been caught with an issue we're dealing with-the previous activations have not been reset back when we first tried and then removed activation for the original 1.0.0 version. But in looking it seems that isn't YOUR issue since you bought in March 2004.

So, I think you are getting caught by an eSellerate engine dll issue. Can you do me a favor? Do a "search" on your boot drive for 'eSellerateEngine.dll' and tell me what the version number is? The current version is supposed to be 3.6.5 but some people seems to be back at 3.6.2. Which leads me to believe our installer is failing to install an updated dll.

God...I just LOVE the software biz...

Yes, PK Sharpener RC w/WinXP Pro SP2, just to confirm.

eSellerateEngine.dll is ver 3.5.6, created May 7 2006 6:59:42 PM.

Yup, 3.5.6 - not 3.6.x

The error I get on attempting a manual authorization on the esellerate page is:

"Invalid Activation Set ID (-25000)"

Software biz...yup...I've been on both sides!

I'm also getting an activation problem with XP SP2/CS3. the PhotoKit Activation window pops up with my serial number and the message is "Unable to activate. Press the Activate button again to try activating manually". Pressing the activate button again just gives the same message.

The eSellerateEngine.dll version number before and after installing the RC is 3.6.2.3. It hasn't changed since Oct 2005

Yep, same issue on MY machine (you would at least think I could get my OWN PC to work, huh?



Uh huh...pretty sure that seems to be the issue...the current version is 3.6.5...and I think the dll needs to be updated.

So...on my machine, updating the dll to the most recent version resolved the activation issue...

For those of you who wish to try to update their eSellerateEngine.dll, I've attached a zipped copy of the current dll. The correct location to install is at the root boot/WIDOWS (loose in the WINDOWS folder). You won't need to restart but you should quit and re-launch Photoshop, navigate to the Automate plug-ins and retry activation...this should work. We'll be testing this and will try to have updated installers in the near future...
