Hi all,
Wondering if I might tap in to the vast knowledge base on this discussion board. I am starting a new project of scanning medium format and 35mm format negatives that my grandfather took years ago as a professional photographer. My uncle (my grandfather's son) started this project but recently passed away and I have elected myself to continue on with digitally archiving the photos. I will inherit my uncle's scanner (the Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED) and knowing that the manual that comes with it will be a bit dense (and not necessarily the best "how-to" document), I am wondering if any of you know of a great book or online resource that outlines the best process for scanning and archiving medium and 35 mm negatives as digital files. I'm well versed in Photoshop and digital photography but I do not have a background film photography.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if it's still available, but John Shaw produced an ebook called PhotoShop Field Guide (pretty sure that's the name).

In that book he gives very specific advice as to how to set up a Nikon Coolscan for top performance. I used it to set up my Coolscan V a few years ago and can recommend it highly.
