Have just bought 40D and would like to purchase a new zoom to go with it. Weather-proofing or price etc., is not really a major consideration for me, so especially in regard to the optical quality what should I buy ? I know this Tamron lens received a very good "review" on this site ("killer digital lens") so does the Canon give me the extra performance for all the extra bucks ?
Thanks,

JKR

If you are looking at the tamron you should look at the tamron 17-50 f2.8.
