hello

hi, I can't find much about toyo, what's the size of the back ?
they sell a digital back adapter to their 23vx camera, but what's the size
of the back ? is it standard 45 ? or 23 ?

if you know the measurement that would be great help to me smile.gif

Ruey,
The Toyo VX23D is a 2-1/4"x3-1/4" (6x9cm) format camera. Regarding the back adapter measurements, are you asking for the outer dimensions? The camera uses standard 100x100mm lens boards, however the rear standard is configured only for 6x9cm. The outer dimensions of the various back adapters are approx 95x95mm. These can be interchanged with a 6x9cm (2"x3") Graflok / ground glass adapter as well.

The camera (standards and rail), and digital back adapters, have been designed around the 6x9cm format. Notice in pictures of the camera, you will find the lens board assembly is recessed approx 3/4" from the front standard and movements. This is to accommodate newer, super wide angle digital lenses (ie. Schneider APO-Digitars) with much shorter focal lengths. It also incorporates a fairly short (8") monorail.

I have to admit, given the $2800 price tag, it is quite an impressive camera, with precise geared movements. There is talk of lens boards that support Hasselblad C-Series (bayonet) or Mamiya M645 lenses as well! Certainly worth looking into. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

AH GREAT !

looks like you know about this camera.

What I want to do is to get an adapter to fit my Mamiya/Aptus to my arca swiss 69.
Can I fit it to my arca swiss 69 back ?

You mentioned it fits through a graflock mount, does it mean I can mount it using my
arca swiss 69 graflock back ?

cheers

Adapters are available from Arca-Swiss or from Kapture Group.

Slightly OT

How will these lenses work with no shutter ?

I can see the advantage of making those boards in conjuction with putting a DSLR on the back on a sliding mount fro stitching

but I cant see that it is a point of exitement for MFDB owners

I have been hoping to wedge all my old glass, nikkor mamiya etc in front of my chip for years now but now cost effective solution has become apparent

Take a look at This One
I'm sure it can be utilised somehow.

These lens boards would obviously be for the leaf-shutter lenses from either manufacturer, requiring some mechanical interface with the built-in shutter mechanism(s). This would exclude the Hasselblad FE lenses (no built-in shutter), and the majority (but not all) of the Mamiya M645 line.

You are correct, there would be no advantage to lenses without built-in shutters, with today medium format digital backs.

Toyo has only made mention of these lens options upon the release of the VX23D. There has not been much additional info since. We will see...

rueyloon
the measurement ?
jing q
hey rueyloon I handled a toyo 23vx recently, it's very well built but I was told that a lot of accessories are not available yet. (didn't see any sliding back adapter for sure)

the tilts felt abit awkward but maybe all 6x9 cameras are like that anyway..

To revive this thread, today I managed to take a look at the Toyo VX23D and played with it abit.
The back is supposedly a standard 6x9 (2x3) graflock back with the standard two metal clips (one on top one on the bottom)
The adapter for the digital back is basically a graflock plate that accepts the digital back of choice.
To answer your question rueyloon as long as both the arcaswiss and toyo use the same graflock 6x9 standard then yes it should work.

Personally for myself if I can find a sliding back manufacturer who has a sliding back already adapted for 6x9 graflock backs, that'll be great.

I'm in an email conversation with them. They say that they can adapt their sliding back to the Graflock mount. Looks like a good deal for a stitching sliding back.

The only concern right now is how much extension the sliding back will add to the camera. (although that problem should be solvable using a recessed lensboard if necessary)

yeah, i have a sinar 5x4, but dont need a view camera much, but this is a cheap option to give it a go.
im assuming the sliding back fits onto a sinar 5x4?

the other thing that seems cool about this sliding back is that it shows a whole stiching area on the ground glass. only the cambo does this(as far as i know), the other sliding backs only show the center.
