Boabab and Ox Cart...freaky trees (what are they?)...great photo...thanks Michael...

oh, and I've shown my wife that exquisite 'old' Nikon...now she knows what I want for my birthday cool.gif

but really...when are we gonna see a FF digital version of that sweet thang for $2999.00?

The trees are Boabab (Boab?) trees. Very unusual. We have Boabs in Australia clearly the same family, but very different.

Just wiki'd about it... Same species, different sub species.

In The Covenant, James A. Michener described them as upside down trees, with roots where the branches should be. (or words to that effect) Anyway, MR's image is stunning.

Go watch the episode of the Plant Earth series where they do long sweeping shots of the Madagascar Boabab trees (shot from hot air balloon) and then film the flowers exploding open in the night.

And check out the new one from the 1Ds Mk III at ISO 1250, and with a tough subject at that. Adds some substance to the phrase "performed flawlessly", me thinks smile.gif.
