I've been holding off on upgrading to Leopard until Lightroom works smoothly with it. I know the 1.3 update has supposedly addressed the issues, but how is it working in practice for those of you running Leopard?

If you use an Epson printer, Epson still needs to update some of their drivers for everything to work. For example, the 3800 driver in the US needs an update although the European Epson site already has the updated driver.

For the most part, the answer is yes.

As far as I'm concerned, everything is now working perfectly. I print with iPF5000 and it's fine too.

So you're saying that the R2400 prints perfectly with LR 1.3, without updating the driver? Why is everyone (including Epson) saying that all Epson drivers need to be updated in order to work with Lightroom? Jeff Schewe says that Lightroom uses a more advanced printing architecture that the Epson drives can't take advantage of.

I'm just saying that with X 10.5.1, LR 1.3 and "current" drivers, I have been able to achieve "better", more accurate prints than ever before, dramatically better. I'd hesitate to say, "perfectly". So, if Epson does provide "updated" drivers that can take advantage of "a more advanced printing architecture" from Lightroom, I should be that much more ahead of the game. This is only the second day (yesterday was the 1st) when I didn't have to wonder WHY the print from the R2400 was always darker than the screen rendition. And believe me when I say I've read all the posts, calibrated my monitor, calibrated my printer (by creating profiles with PrintFix Pro), watched the videos, adjusted the settings in Lightroom, used Option>Print and PRAYED. All to no avail, until yesterday (Upgrade Day).

I'm using Leopard on my MacPro 8 Core to run LR 1.3, PS CS3 and printing to my Epson R2400 either directly from the applications or by using ImagePrint 7 RIP. All seems to be working fine at the moment although I am only a recreational user.

The only snag with my Leopard upgrade remaining is that I use an Eizo ColorEdge CE240W display. The Eizo monitor calibration software, Color Navigator, does not load properly. According to Eizo, the last profile is what is being used, however, I will not be able to update the profile until they release a Leopard compatible version of their software.

Well on this subject, good news is the SpectraView II software for my NEC 2690 runs just fine in Leopard. Bad news is, the Sony Artisan software doesn't and that means, its end of the road, DOA for this fine pup.

If you've got an Artisan, forget 10.5.

Correction! The Artisan lives under Leopard! Long story short, I didn't have everything hooked up correctly. The software now boots. So, I'm keeping my love (along side my NEC 2690). An sRGB and a wide gamut, best of both worlds.

I have upgraded to both MacOS 10.5.1 and LR 1.3.1 and have installed the most current driver for the 2400 that is posted on the Epson web site. This driver was last updated to support Macs with Intel processors and was posted to the Epson site on 02/07/06 (epson11771.dmg).

I have tested printing with this configuration from Lightroom and the resulting color in my prints is grossly inaccurate. My system is completely color managed using the correct profiles for my display and printer/paper. If I reboot into MacOS 10.4.11 with LR1.3.1 and the same driver, I can correct the problem.

I would like to know what I am doing differently from those of you who are successfully printing with Leopard to a 2400.

I'm printing to my R2400 from PS CS3 on my MacPro running Leopard 10.5.1 with no problems. The colors are great, however, I always print allowing PS to color manage the printer output. I set the Epson settings to no color management.

Printing to the R2400 from iPhoto allowing the printer driver to manage colors yields great results too.

I also use ImagePrint 7.0 RIP. It works well also.

Those drivers are not going to cut it, as you've seen. You'll need drivers specifically updated for Leopard. Epson is releasing them slowly (the newly released 3800 works fine, I'm still waiting on a 4800 driver).

The driver you're noting is not the "most current driver." For some reason, Epson has only posted the updated drivers to its European sites. They are not on their US site yet. Go to Epson, select the UK page and fish for drivers, and you'll see ones dated this month. In my case, with my 3800 Pro, the drivers on the US site are dated 11/06 and on the EU sites are 11/07. And the absolutely behave differently.

It works well for me. I have an iMac G5 and HP B9180. The only change is the incorporated printer driver does not have a separate page to add in new icc profiles. I now have to drag these profiles thru' Library/ColorSync/profiles but that's no big deal. I'm back to the smooth workflow I had with Tiger with all the new features of Leopard.

Exactly, until Epson updates the drivers for Leopard, there's not much you can do at this time.

I updated my epson 2400 with the latest driver. I'm using Leopard. My LR prints are too magenta and light in color. The prints from CS3 are much closer to what I see on the monitor. My system is calibrated and I use the correct profiles. The printer driver is set to no color management.
I called adobe and they said LR1.3 uses the prophoto color space and the epson 2400 can't use it.
I told them I had no trouble with the tiger os and the epson. He said I should call epson and in the meantime use CS3 for my print jobs.
Is this crazy or what?!

Tech support these days unfortunately seems to know next to nothing. They're poorly trained, and rarely know much more than I do when I call - and often less. It's a shame.

The new driver for the R2400 is due out in "November" on the Epson UK site. Well, it's the 29th and still no sign! Anyhow, I'm sure it will be out soon enough. CS3 it is, for now.
