I've decided that I'll upgrade to an Epson 4880 as I'm very pleased with the performance of the K3 inks on the Harman FB AI paper.

I do quite a bit of portfolio printing and it would be a hugely useful thing if the machine I get can sheet feed this paper, so if anyone has tried, or can give it a try I'd be grateful to know.

I think it might work, because the paper is much flatter than its competitors. I can get single sheets to autofeed through my 2400 which on the other hand can't handle the Hahnemule pearl papers which have to be fed in the manual feed slot.

You mean feeding from the Tray/Casette?
I have booth 4000 and 4800 and using the Tray always is an adventure.
Some paper feed nice and some other just don't!
As you problaby now; manual feeding on these models, and the 4880, is one at the time.
I made an edition for an artist, 450 A2 Innova NW manually! That isn't healthy.
I think the Harman is to thick for the tray.

I have used it in my 4000 through the tray with no problems (8.5x11). I also use it in my 7880 but it has no tray.

fyi.. When you hand feed this paper the "snap of the feed rollers" as you release them down onto the paper leave marks. And if you don't print soon, the marks get worse.

I almost always hand feed and don't remember having this problem with other papers. That said, it's a great paper for creating glossy prints. Colors and sharpness hold true to the print using the factory profile.

I own a 4000... doh.

And I guess that the paper handling is identical to the 4800.

So for anyone who wants to know, I just placed three A3+ sheets in the tray and ran off three prints faultlessly. Yes, it works well with the A4 as well.

I thought it would work because of the minimal curl on the paper. Having been through the pain of making 100 prints using the rear feed slot on the 2400 this will be quite a boon.

I downloaded the correct profile for the 4000 and repeated a print I'd made with the 2400. I found the colour match to be really astounding, the 4000 (Ultrachrome) and the 2400 (K3) prints look very similar. The main difference is of course in the gloss differential on the print from the 4000.

That settles it, I'll upgrade to the 4880 as I can print my folios in 'fire and forget' mode with this paper.

You will need a profile to use with the 4880 as it is quite different from the 4000.

The Harman canned profiles are really great. So I think I'd use theirs.

Except they don't have profiles for the x880 series of printers yet. At least the last time I looked.
