Full Version: Z3100 Printheads & Cotton Swabs?

This has been annoying me since I got my Z3100 a month ago. When I installed the print heads, several of them had cleaning swabs, with the instructions indicating to wipe the head with 3 strokes. Two or three of the heads did not come with swabs. Is that the usual situation? Or did I get a repacked set of heads?

And they still work after 8 months when put back in the foil and sealed as good as possible.

Gulp! This makes me think that my printer, which I bought as brand new, had been a demo, or a return. What would you do in this situation? The printer seems to work fine with no problems.

Also, it never occurred to me to save the swabs. Do you use them for head maintenance? If so, after how many hours of printer use?

I have taken the heads out once after 6 months use and cleaned the nozzle area of the heads with the swabs I have saved. There were some drips on a print so it was time to clean the heads and carriage + capping station. Thought that the swabs would be the safest way. They were still moist and they still are. They may not be intended for maintenance but it worked.
