Looking to get a back up battery. I see a ton of them on ebay really cheap. Like mom said if it seems to good. Seem to be to many to be a scam.
Has anyone bought one off ebay, what kinda luck did you have with them.

I bought some of E-Bay a couple of years ago for a Canon, BP-511. I cant remember where they were from but they were something like by one get one free. They look identical. I have used them and had no problems. They seem to hold a charge as long as the OEM batteries and they recharge the same.

I bought one from a well known dealer here in the UK (via the net about £15=$30) and I have had no problems, it holds the charge well, I can't see any difference either.
If your buying off e.bay, watch the sellers feedback, only deal through paypal (no cash etc) and watch where it's coming from, some from overseas may be fake copies and may also have a LOT of postage charges. Wayne

I also bought one from a well known on-line dealer in my own country, and found it better than the original Canon. Our experience here is that if it comes from Hong Kong it is almost certainly 100% fake and the seller's feedback is worth nothing in this regard

I've bought third party batteries from sterlingtek and walmart. The walmart batteries were more expensive and the contacts corroded. The sterlingtek were short lived (overall battery life, not per charge) compared to the canon but otherwise worked fine.
