Hello All,

Can anyone please tell me any real difference that have seen between the 75 and 75s.

I just downloaded LC11 and started going through some older A75 files I had shot last year. It worked wonderfully and the colors were much better and much faster.

I no longer have an Aptus and wondered if people who upgraded saw any difference.

Thanks in advance

Do you mean that you do not have A75 and have A75S now or no Aptus at all. I try to understand your question before I address it.

I no longer have Leaf products. I had an Aptus 75 NON-S model when they came out in early 06.

I have Phase digital backs.

I was wondering what difference Aptus users found from the regular to the S model.

Were there any major improvements? I understand that the speed of the S will only be an improvement if you have an AFI.

Thank in advance

Ric,
I had A75 for one year and I am now with A75S for 4 months. I do not know about the technical aspect of the hardware improvements besides the fact that A75S has FireWire800 port. I have shot many thousands of frames on both of the back and I have to say that I personally do not see any difference between the two. I do not even know if some should be expected since the sensor is the same. Both of them produce outstanding files which in my opinion are superior to any back on the market. A75S is much faster than A75 which is of a great value if you shoot tethered to MacBook Pro since the images are popping about twice as fast with FW800. Also shooting to card is much faster.
In the studio I shoot mostly HMI so being able to go 1 images a sec. is really nice.
FW800 however has it bed side as I do not think that the connection to Mac is that secure. Any movement of cable tends to disconnect it.
Over all if you do not care for speed A75 would be a great choice at very affordable price.
Needless to say I love my Aptus.

Andre,

Thanks for getting back to me. It is exactly the answer I was looking for.

I am very happy with my Phase backs, but recently opened the files I shot with the Aptus 75 in the new LC11. I was very impressed with the new LC11. It really has made leaps and bounds to 8.4 and 10.

The 400 asa on the Aptus is quite amazing. Very Very impressive. I forgot how good it was, as I had so many problems with the old Aptus and LC10 that this is all I thought about.

As Andre suggested, there would be no difference in a file from an A75, A75S, or Afi7, as they share the same sensor. The A75S and AFi7 share the same electronics, are equally as fast, and both are faster than the A75. I ordered an AFi7. My interest in the AFi is the integrated platform and the superior files, naturally.
