I agree completely. I have one of his prints, and I had the good fortune to take a workshop from him back in the 60s. If you get a chance, see some of his recent work in a gallery or museum. He had a show in Portland, Maine, not too long ago, and I made a trip up to see it, since I hadn't seen his work in a long time. I had high expectations, but I was completely blown away by his prints. The reproductions in View Camera are excellent -- but still nothing like the real thing.
