Can anyone give me some insight into the different H focusing screens and if they really are better than the default screen supplied for manual focus. I am interested in the different options for the H3DII-31. thanks.

They do make a grid screen as well, not sure about any others. I shoot architecture, so I find it essential.

Maxwell precision optic screens

really great stuff.

Google Maxwell Precision Optics and you will find his info. Old school guy, so he has no website himself but a fan page someone put up for him.

Best of Luck

mark, I'm having the same trouble - I have the grid, still tough to manual focus.
Maxwell was rec. to me as well...

whats the pricing like? I've read of same issues dealing with him too, any of that resolved?
MarkKay

No issues, he is just old school. No website.

But he turns it around in a week max. He has done rushes for me in two days.

There really is no better screen. Blows the Hassy standard away and much better than the Beattie.

Glad to see there are still some of these custom guys out there.

Thanks for the info Ric, but could you please clarify if are you comparing it to the current H screens or the older pre H screens (if they were different).

Thanks, David

Does anyone know if they make screens for the H system? The unofficial web site is somewhat outdated

pretty sure he does H, he was recc. by steve hendrix from PPR (excellent hass dealer also in georgia)

mark - the issue was when he was installing screens himself, there was a crazy backlog, but he only makes the screens @ this point, no installations (ie for older 500 series)

anyone know if Beattie makes and H screen?

personally - I need something a bit easier to focus w/ more contrast outside the center area + a grid in there...

I WILL TAKE ONE TOO but my grid needs to also deliniate the field of view specific for the the 31D sensor.
RicAgu
He does make H series screens

My old H screen was from 2005 and I went Maxwell in 2007. Not sure how old of a screen you were mentioning.

I did not know of a formula change in the screen that Hasselblad was supplying. If this is true, Hasselblad needs to direct more attention to their software than focusing screens.

The best thing to do is give Bill a call to discuss your specific needs. He will tell you everything you need to know.

Best of luck.

Anyone any idea/experience how the Maxwell screens are in comparison with Brightscreen? Is the Maxwell much better?

I am thinking about getting a better screen with edged crop lines for my various backs. I could go either way but when I go I just want to have the best I can (who doesn't rolleyes.gif ).
