I now realise why I have a certain antagonism towards MFDB users. Such systems are used mainly to promote obsolete technologies that are harmful to the environment, and ourselves.
We over-eat, partly because MFDB photographers produce seductive images of succulent dishes that are no good for us; that are tasty but harmful to our health; that look ravishing but lack basic nutritional ingredients necessary for complete health.
MFDB users work mainly for the advertising industry which promotes consumption without regard to the real needs of the consumer and without regard to the environment.
When I look through the images presented in this thread, I see the promotion of blatant consumerism. I see desirable chics with a nice color balance, but a general lack of intellectual integrety in the motives and narrative.
I'm telling it as I see it. Sorry for any offense.
You're a genius.

Click to view attachmentShot yesterday, very early in the morning. And for those who are concerned: I did go there by bicycle. I rarely use an automobile and I do not fly. (And for the record: no tunafish, wearing an extra sweater when it's getting cold, washing laundry at 30 degrees Celsius, never throwing away food.)
I travelled by public transport today for over six hours to shoot an assignment. A bus didn't show up when I was some 25 kilometres from my destination, where a group of people was waiting for me to be photographed. I tried to call from a public phone (don't use a cell phone either) to announce my delay, but the damn thing wouldn't take coins. Nobody at the bus station was able to borrow me a phone. When I arrived one hour late all my subjects were still patiently waiting. Mind you, all these people are working at a gas station (yeah, another concern) and most had come back from their day off to meet me. I felt I had some explaining to do to them. Gosh, trying to be an environmentally friendly photographer can be quite hard sometimes.

This one has been done yesterday. I took the Greenwheels to get there. This is a subscription where you share a car with a lot of other people. You book it when you need it and than park it back when you are done. Cars are small and pretty economic. I don't own a car and normally take the bike.
I have also lived on a boat for 2 years where I used solar energy and used rainwater for drinking, showering, cleaning etc...
I figure this is a pretty 'green' shot.

This is probably the most green shot i've seen recently. Everything gets recycled, even the model. keep up the "green" spirit Dustbak.

Thanks Tho_mas. I can't tell you how many times I have heard from clients, art directors and other industry types who look at my site and say "I love the polaroids" even though my site is 95% digital. It really puts all the bickering about pixels, DR, "why's this new camera not got a better bla bla bla" - into perspective.
Anyway, it's really fun to shoot polaroids, and the models love it.
Cheers.

I think it has to do with a sphere in images I would call somehow the absence of meaning. When all questions are answered... the image is totally uninteressting. If there are only questions... the image is "bad" or "high-flown". It's always a question of the "right" mixture or maybe the balance. In #3 the dark parts may eliminate the face and the textures... but at the same time this gives me the chance to imagine a (short) "story". Well... every mystery story gets its suspense from what is
not shown or illustrated... you know what I mean.
... hard to explain as I am obviously no native speaker :-)

Unfortunately, not well, so it's not an ideal solution to achieving extended depth of field. I am hopeful that the new Hasselblad tilt/shift device will offer a better solution.
