QUOTE (JTFOTO @ Aug 27 2008, 07:54 PM)
this Snook guy is just a child.

If you look at his DP review he was ripping everyone and anyone and got into a heated conversation with James Russell but was going under a different name.  Now he is here and starts the same shit from DP review.  He was vulgar and insulting people there and changed his name and came here.  Some guys on DP review investigated him and it turned out he is some former male model that left the Miami market bankrupt to start elsewhere.

Snook, get over yourself.  You're not doing anything new.  NOT A THING!  you're copying Nick Knight, LaChappelle and anyone else you think you like their work.  and actually doing it poorly!  Get into a big market like NY, Milan, Paris, LA or London and see how you fend for yourself.  You would be starving in any large market.

No offense to people in smaller markets, but this guy thinks he is Meisel or Klein in some 5th rate market.  He would never make it in NY, Milan, or Paris.

Before you start chewing people, look at your work.  I would love to see EXIF here and see who shot it first, but I am almost certain it wasn't snook.  Plus Meisel has done a Junkyard every few years from Vegas and Miami to NYC and Milan.  Check the historic pictures of Italian Vogue.

What a Joke!

The only one chewing heads here is you...:+}
I was only stating facts...
When did I say I was anybody?
You guys need to read before you go off on rants...
I am sure you have a great market there in Miami...:+}
I lived in Milan for 10 years and did quite well there.
Lived in London for several years where i also did quite well...
Always hated Paris so won't even think about going there.
How that Miami market going on in Miami JT?
Thanks for the compliment saying I copy Nick Knight. I would say my style has NOTHING to do with him but I am sure it is just one of the Few Famous photographers you know about and just threw it in there.
Liek I said when I saw people stating that Frank was ripping off other photographers ideas and trying to Copying them exactly, it reminded me of the dispute I had a while back.
Thought I was being Politically correct by not mentioning who it was , But he decided to let everyone know..:]

Let's get back to sharing pictures and let the wanna bes cool down..:+]

Don't go back.... smile.gif

ambient light is doing just fine - I don't think that strobes will do any good on the last image at all (it's positive comment)

Try look in some books with European architecture, done by European architectural photographers - we seldom use any other light than what is already there.

I can not even remember the last time I placed a lamp in a space....

Very best

Fake ?

Hummm when i say something i do my homework
See www.frankdoorhof.com under cv and you can clearly see there's no fake

However i choose to specialise in teaching instead of doing magazines but if you visit my cv all will be clear
I don't know why you are bashing me but that kind of arguments are clearly lies and only meant to harm it says more about you than me
Maybe make yourself known so we can see who you are instead of hiding behind three letters

Hi,
I've been visiting the forum 1 month ago, when I purchased Hasselblad H3DII31. It's a wonderful place to learn and share works.
Now, my first contribution.

Sorry for coming back to this but I was on my iPhone when I posted the last post and could not link a picture.

@snook,
let's bygones be bygones and just respect each other.
There is too little respect anyway, and there is only need for a small remark as we can see to call the trolls out.
Maybe michael needs to find the ban button ?

You were in Milan and London as a Model Dude. You never made a dollar as photographer in Europe.

Miami is doing great from Nov to Mar. I spend the rest of the year in NYC and Paris shooting four days a week and being published by foreign edition of Vogue, Harpers, Elle, Marie Claire and Allure. No US, French or Italian versions yet, but I am hoping soon. T

LaChapelle copied Nick Night who in turn was copying HIRO. Before Hiro there was no one really doing that kind of color. No Kodachrome around. Before those guys Horst, Steigletz, Steichen were the bee's knees. Would've loved to see how they did color though. Do you know who Steichen and Steiglitz are? They started it all!

Just the way you stated, "I am being copied" in your passive aggressive tone was enough to warrant a ripping. Plus, now you are trying to be calm and quiet because you know you'll be kicked. Do you recall the vitriol your spewed on DP review? That was just two years ago.

JTF you mean http://www.nickknight.com/main.html ?

Did not know him, thanks so much for pointing him out.
I don't see a 100% David Lachapelle like world but I can see the connections and all I can say is wow, added to my favs.
JTFOTO
Yeah, he is awesome Frank!

One of the best out there. I have a few of his books that are made in short runs for promotional use to clients. His site doesn't really do him justice. It is very selective work, strange he doesn't expand it.

Not really know in the US that well. Like Guido Mocafico as well. amazing shooters, but don't shoot in the US that much.

Or are you shooting Blogue and you accidentally wrote Vogue..?
Made plenty in Europe as a photographer...
Not sure who you think of, again maybe that miami heat, no pun intended..

I guess all the big guys are hanging out in miami on their spare time... Maybe 10 years ago...:+]
My passive aggressive tone...
You sound like Richard Agudelo...
In any case would love to see your Vogue stuff.
Why don't you post a your website in your Info...
Sound like a troll to me..

nick knight is one of the most influential photographers from the 90s
technically astounding and has a certain otherworldly aesthetic. I wouldn't tie him closely to lachapelle (I wonder if they've even met)
one of the first people whose work got me interested in photography! He did some videos also with bjork.
JTFOTO
I would not say he is like LaChapelle. I think he influenced LaChapelle in his early color work.

Amazing shooter! I agree with you 110% as one of the most influential guys out there.

OK kids, time's up.

This has been one of the most interesting and valuable threads on this Forum, but it has now run its course.

I'm closing it in part because its too long. Also, because it has from time to time been hijacked by some immature characters.

Anyone is free to start a new similar thread, but personal attacks will not be tolerated and offenders will be permanently zapped without warning.

Be advised.
