When I see some of the poor quality images being posted that are shot with MFDB, I shudder and wonder if these images are doing a great disservice to the backs they were shot on.  On the other hand, a 10MP Leica used by capable hands here has exhibited very nice results that made me smile.  Big disparity in talent IMHO.

Well said Henry !

I agree entirely. Some of the pictures posted here do leave a bit to be desired. I've asked myself whether an expensive MFDB was needed to create them. The comparison between MFDB and DSLr's has been very interesting. I hope this continues too, either here or in another thread.

Love your B&W shot. It just show that it is the man (or woman) , the vision and not the camera that makes the image.

Hey everybody, so far I have really enjoyed myself on this forum, getting lot’s of insider tips and technical knowledge, and as someone who is just getting into MFDB’s this has been a great place to learn about what’s available and out there. I’m very close to getting my own in the next couple of month so this thread with all the different images form different backs has been a great help to evaluate my decision .
I really hope you guys continue putting up relevant work according to what this thread was originally intended.
I am new and this is also my first post ! SO, hello to everybody from london , my name is Armin and I am specializing in portraiture, fashion and fine art stuff.

Did you shoot this image in single or multi shot?
If multishot, were there any issues in shooting a landscape image where moving
components (leaves, water, clouds, etc) had to be dealt with in post.

Thanks,

This was taken in single shot mode. I use multi shot for art repro and still lifes.

But, the swamp shot is actually a composite of three different exposures -- one for the tree in the left foreground, another for the sky and another for the water.

Dear Ben

STOP - don’t do this to your self - your photography (looking at your website - lifestyle) is just fine, honest and natural.

I simply don’t get it guys, how come mediocre lingerie photography suddenly becomes something to admire. I my world this photography Mr. Doorhof represents is just soul less, artificial, pretentious BS.

Cheers

You can see why I stopped putting my images up on this forum with people like Toby1014 scathing comments.

My delicate ego couldn't handle it.

I was with the impression that all here had agreed not and never make such comments, and to simply keep this tread as for what it is meant: sharing images, showing new work and giving advices as for how the images are taken.

I would suggest to simply ignore these comments, as for what they are: misplaced.

@Toby,
Take a look at my site and see there is alot more going on than what you describe, and in all good respect why do I deserve this ?
Am I playing a jerk, am I putting down people ?
Why the big stab ?

I really don't get this, I always try to be nice to people, answer everything they ask me and keep always respect for everyone.
I think posts like these will scare away the people that count for forums like this and leave it to the people who are only out to destroy things, such a shame.
There is enough negativity in the world, let's keep this part of it clean.

@Ben,
Your work looks wonderful, it's a totally different area of photography.
It's like comparing doing architecture with urban shooting, although they both have buildings the way to represent them is totally different, as is the intension of the shots and the market.

I LOVE to do lifestyle shooting but I have more work in the fashion department.
Things like this are done on a VERY RARE occasion, I hardly do nudes or bodypaints, that's why I was pleased with these shots, my passion however lies in the fashion shooting and sometimes a bit of glamour.
This is to be exact my second bodypaint shoot ever.

On the workshops, I'm in LA on the 7th and 8th for two workshops if you are interested just let me know.

You guys have very good skills so don't waste your time dealing with detractors. Those are for DPreview.com

Please continue to show your fine work and if you find the time, perhaps even share some setups or particular techniques used for the images you post. I'm sure many will be thrilled.

Nice shot's.. But can I ask why you put handheld on the end? looks shot with a couple of strobes and no ambient so what would handheld have any influence?

You know what I like about this thread?

We've been going for almost 30 pages now, and al the stupid off-topic remarks have been nibbed in the bud.
Where's are the days Michael had to step in and say: end of topic, too much heat, too little light?

The online community is mature, at least; around these parts.

You are right it's not particularly relevant at all . I just read on another forum that some people have problems focusing with the H camera unless it's on a tripod . Only my 50 cents !

This was just an experiment to try out this free software: http://www.tawbaware.com/tufuse.htm

13 exposures 1 stop apart with Mamaiya ZD, AFDII and 120 Macro ISO 50. It doesn't really show a 13 stop DR though.

Okay, my wife's gone now.

Seriously, though, I do like the composition and lighting of the first shot.
