Does anyone here use Lee Full ND Filters (100mm Pro Glass ND)?

What would you recommend...0.6 or 0.9 ?
And a second question:
If you buy Lee ND grads they recommend to purchase the 100X150mm
filters for a Canon 16-35L II lens.
They don't sell Full ND Filters in that size. Is that a problem?

I use both of the filters since two years now, in combination with the filter holder,they work perfect for fieldwork. Ibought them as a set of three (0.3,0.6 and 0.9) Which one i use depends on the sky contrast.

I think you misunderstood my question.
I didn't mean Lee ND Grad filters.
I ment full ND (non-grad) Lee filters.
They only offer 0.6 and 0.9 full ND filters.

For the full ND you can use one that screws onto the front of your lens.

The grads need to be larger so that you can slide them up and down and rotate them into the best position.

As for the .6 or .9, the .6 filter is two stops, the .9 is three stops, your choice. If you are shooting streams and waterfalls in bright daylight, you might want/need more than three stops...

Singh-Ray filters make a vari-ND filter. very very useful but vignetting risk at the wide end. Expensive. even worse when UK customs charged me £ 50 import TAX. PS since my purchase i see on Web site there is new wide angle mount. More £££ oh dear

Are the glass filters any better in terms of optical quality, scratch resistance etc?

If you check the trend I started here the other day you will see that the normal Lee ND filters cause a magenta cast in clouds so you should go for the Proglass filters that adsorbe the IR that causes the magenta casts.

Regarding the size, the ND filters come in square 100mm. The graduated filters are longer so you move them up and down without worry.

I have no problems with the Lee filters on the 16-35mm II and 5D. The only problem I have is vignetting below 20mm when I use the polarizer, I have two filter slots on the holder before the CP holder, if I droped this to one filter slot then I could get closer to 16mm before suffering from vignetting.

Solution is to have one filter holder with one slot and the polarizer holder and then then another holder with 3 slots for filters.
