Hi
I have a problem with a Canon 24-105 f4 IS lens. It will not do manual focus, it seems the linkage between the focus ring and the mechanism is gone.
This is not surprising. The camera (1D Mark IIN) to which the lens was attached struck a hard object (my forehead) and probably the ground (snow covered) when I got thrown off a horse drawn sleigh with the camera around my neck. The camera seems fine although it did need a good external cleaning to get rid of blood.
The lens works fine on auto focus.
I live in Northern Ontario, a long way from any places that fix lenses.
I am looking for suggestions for places I could send the lens to be repaired.
thanks for your help,

Paul

Hi There:

Since Moosonee is a long way from just about everywhere, and since you're unlikely to find a repair place in Thunder Bay or Timmins, you're going to have to go farther south. Here are some possibilities:

http://www.khbphotografix.com/

The other option for you would be Winnipeg, and since it's out of province you might save on PST in the bargain.

Hope that helps,

Mike.

Since Canon's Canadian head office (and major repair center) is in Toronto, why don't you send your lens there?
