I just found out that the Spectraview II software won't work on the 2nd gen Macbook pro laptops, the ones with the GeForce 8600M GT graphics cards. I can't return the monitor.....

Does anyone have a work around? The monitor works but I can't calibrate it with the sectraview software and hardware.

Thanks!

Ken

Dont know of any work arounds - but NEC do publish a list of supported Video cards. I am pretty sure they support all of the Nvidia cards - isnt the GeForce Nvidia?

From Nec's site.

"At this time (as of Mac OS 10.4.10) the following Apple Macs are not compatible with SpectraView due to issues with the video chipsets and drivers:

Intel based Macs using Intel graphics processors:
Intel Mac mini
13" MacBook
17" iMac with Intel GMA 950 graphics processor

Second generation MacBook Pro 15" and 17" that have NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics chipsets.
NEC is working with Apple to resolve these issues and it is hoped that they will be fixed by Apple with a future Mac OS update."

This is not just about Spectraview. Apple has left all ddc like functions from all vendors out in the cold for the time being. As far as I know, Eizo has the only solution since they avoid dealing with the video card all together for hardware communication.

Note, you need to get 10.5.2 plus a video driver update in order for these features to return.

Interesting, I didn't get a separate video driver update...I just installed the 10.5.2 and it seems to work.

MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

You have to run Software Update again after 10.5.2 has installed. It is a separate download.

OK, that's the Leopard Graphics Update 1.0. Might update drivers too but I think its far more than just that:

Apple didn't (at least initially) say much about what this update was all about. But you DO want to run it.
