Can a Nikon sb-22 be triggered from a Canon 580 EX 2? A relative had this light tucked away in a desk for years. I found it and with new batteries it works. How can I make use of this for a second light with my Canon? I'm just getting into the Strobist thing and don't know much. (That is overstating my knowledge). I have searched on this site and t he Nikon site and come up empty.

Get an optical trigger. Fotodiox makes them. Wein makes them.

What is your intended usage for this?

Optical triggers are fine if the remote flash (and its Wein) are within line of sight and are not in an environment with other distracting light sources such as other people's flashes and/or direct sunlight.

If you have more robust needs, then think about radio triggers. There are very cheap ones available on eBay called "Gadget Infinity". If you want more reliability, then Elinchrom Skyports and Pocket Wizards you should research.
