I found ref to Jungledisk www.jungledisk.com - as I understand it is effectively a GUI for the Amazon S3 data storage service.

Anyone here tried or using it? If so how is/was it for you ???

I tried using it a while back. The fact is that S3 has various limitations (such as bucket sizes, file sizes etc) - and is not 100% suitable for photography...which has large file sizes...

also - the way S3 monetizes it - it does not work out economical for photography, where you have many versions of the same file from various stages of the work flow (possibly)....

So far, the best online storage (though expensive) for storing precious images is Photoshelter.

Mozy works for me.

Honestly, unless you truly have massive, speed-demon internet speeds, internet backup for photos is a non-starter, if you shoot any volume of images. A week's shoot for me averages 130-160GB. I can't think of a ISP/bandwidth out there that would either provide a quick backup or not hammer you for "excess use" with volume like that. Even my "portfolio" image folder is over 25GB.

I am currently using xdrive’s free account for storing few precious photos apart from generating backups on a spare hdd and DVDs. Another alternative you can probably look at is BQBackup, they have a good reputation amongst webmasters for backing up server data and thus offer ftp access.

How about an external drive kept at the next door neighbor's? ;-)
