Curious as to which and where are the best recognised photography competitions and other extra curricula schemes for photographers.
I hear of photographs being excepted into various exhibitions and getting medals, where does that journey start ?
Is there a big photography night out some where, a pro photography "Oscar".

Hi Rainer,
I'm getting bored with shooting everything on high, I'm looking for a reason / self imposed brief to go do something different.

I've shot day, night, abstract, landscape, Cityscape,Marine, Seascape, fog, clouds, Aircraft, Architecture etc from the Air for 15 years now, I need to shoot something else!

I think however that most of those awards systems are another way of making a lot of money
for organisers and the like, as one always has to pay for steep entries fees even before
being selected to even be part of the showing. If you play the numbers, by submitting a lot,
I am sure you will be noticed eventually.

Needless to say that of course your photos have to be excelent as well!

Hi
Communication Arts photography annual is the best. American photography is very good as well. PDN has so many competitions I have lost count. Personally I feel there are way too many competitions.
