Full Version: Capture Date change in RAW-Files?

Hello,

Since I travel a lot I frequently get out of sync with the
calendar and on a recent trip I missed to put the correct
date and time into my cameras.

I use a Leica M8 and Canon 1Ds II. Is it possible to change
the capture time and date in the RAW-Files (.DNG and .CR2)?

If so, how? IŽm aware that its easily possible with the extracted
files, but for clarity and "once for all" IŽd like to do it with the
original files.

Thank you,

best regards,

Andreas.

Hello,

I already solved the problem. I did use PhotoMechanic to change
the original dates. It works flawlessly.

best,

Andreas.

Another update.

I found out that it doesnŽt works with Leica M8 DNG files and the Capture One 4.0 raw converter.
The capture time/date change will be shown in Lightroom, PS CS2 and PhotoMechanic.

Seems that LeicaŽs firmware really bakes the date pretty tight into the files...

Any other ideas?

best,

Andreas.

I know you can edit the capture date in Lightroom, but that assumes you're using Lightroom for your DAM...

Leica DNG files contain the date in two separate tags: DateTimeOriginal and DateTimeDigitized; this is formally ok. Obviously, one of the sofware you are using regards one of the fields, the other software the other field.
