Hello,

I'd like to show you the result of blending 6 exposures separated 2Evs each with Enfuse (http://wiki.panotools.org/Enfuse).

Each capture was raw processed with default settings in Capture one.

I find the results quite natural given the extreme range in the scene and the process very easy as it the output of efuse at default settings with a slight curve to increase contrast and some crop. The camera a 5D+24-105



This is one of the middle exposures so you can get an idea of the dynamic range involved

That's a nice demo. It makes a better case for HDR than I've seen elsewhere. I expect that if you had opened up the shadows still more, you would have gotten the infamous, unrealistic HDR "look" that another thread here lambasts.
