As usual I'm groping my way around Photoshop (CS2) by trial and error. In Camera Raw, on some images I'm getting bright blue areas in the deepest shadows. Is this just another way of showing clipping? Strangely enough when I increase exposure, which I would expect to rescue shadow detail, the blue becomes more obvious.

In the histogram (LR and ACR) are two little triangles that turn on and off the clipping indicators. Yes, blue indicates black clipping (0/0/0/). Play with the Black slider.

In addition, you can try boosting Fill Light (as well as decreasing Blacks). Different effects.

Hi.

You may also try to hold the ALT key (Windows) when you move the exposure slider (both in ACR and Lightroom). Sometimes I find this way better to spot areas with exposure problems.
