We spent spring break in the Monterey area of California. I went out in the mornings and took shots of the water at varying shutter speeds. Here are some of the shots I got:

This first shot was taken at a 25 seconds shutter speed. The "mist" effect on the water was actually caused by the waves rolling in during the exposure. All of the pictures were taken on clear, crisp mornings with no fog or mist.


Here is a close-up of some rocks taken at 15 seconds.


I slowed down to 1/5 of a second to capture this shot of water swirling around a rock.


This shot was taken at 4/10 seconds and was an attempt at a waterfall like effect with the rocks.


Here's a 1 second shot taken along the shore edge.


Finally, here is a 25 second moonrise shot taken in very calm conditions.

The camera was a Canon 1D Mark II. The lenses used were the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 and the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS. Obviously, everything was done on a tripod with a remote shutter release. The light levels were low, so I didn't need an ND filter.
