Just a minor clarification to Michael's comments on Sean Reid's article on the NEC 2490.

Michael indicated that both Sean and Karl Lang believe that the NEC 2490 may be the best LCD monitor yet for photographers.

That's not how I read Sean's review. I think he was careful to qualify both his and Karl's enthusiasm for the 2490 as being the best "for the money," which is quite different.

In reading other posts, it appears that Karl has not yet been able to test the Eizo's so we don't know how they compare. They may be better or they may not.

What is fascinating to me are Karl's recomendations regarding Wide Gamut displays, I'd love to see an interview with him here.

Do you have a link to Karl's recommendations on wide gamut displays? I haven't seen it.

MR listed Karl's comments as being included with Reid's review. I am not a subscriber so I don't know if that is correct.

Sean summarized (or paraphrased) Karl's comments on the NEC 2490. I was referring to comments that Karl has made on Wide Gamut monitors.

My error. What Karl said was, "for the money" I will correct the listing.

Yes - for the money. The review is based on my own observations as well as upon an interview I did recently with Karl.

Cheers,

You might also want to update Carl to Karl:

Included are Karl Lang's comments about the monitor (Carl is one of the industry's leading lights when it comes to monitor design), and both seem to agree that the 2490 may well be the best LCD monitor yet (for the money) for photographers. Sean's site is subscription based, and well worth it.
