I'm not usually moved to comment on Michael's photos, since he doesn't need praise from me and it seems a bit like crawling, but this shot is just stunning. It reminds me of Turner (we have one hanging where I work and I see it daily). The light, the mist, what seems to be the sky, the birds...

It is a great shot. I love the... rock? shadow? whatever it is in the middle of the frame that echoes the shapes of the gulls soaring around. It's right above the hump of rock in mid-frame.

It's still a work in process. In fact, I have just updated the online image to reflect some changes made this morning. Jeff and I have been been extremely busy for the past 5 days taping our Lightroom 2.0 tutorial, and I just got my head above water this morning to start serious work on some of the images from our Niagara shoot.

I agree with the comments made above. The birds are almost surreal, especially with the chaotic background.

I've travelled to Niagara many times, have relatives and ex-in-laws in the area, and never took that boat tour because it always seemed so touristy and, well, "tacky". Makes you wonder about all the times I've take long car trips to find new things to photograph when stunning scenes might just have been around the corner. You just never know.

Looks like the base of the American falls in the background.

I agree, this really caught my eye and I spent a good two-three minutes just looking at the web-sized version. The colorful lower left and monochromatic upper right give the shot beautiful chaotic tension, which is so fitting considering the subject matter. One of Michael's best shots. Stunning.

I think the bits of white on the gulls add a lot to the image. Without them, it seems to flatten out. A gorgeous shot!

What a fantastic shot. I like the way the rainbow arcs across from the bottom right hand corner and that seagull in the top left is perfectly positioned to point you back into the drama of the scene again.

I'm yet to enjoy the pleasures of the D3, I know it to be very capable but how does it really measure for landscape work?
