I came to the same conclusion..I have no urgent need for one at the moment.

Based on costs of MEDIA and actual burn times -- even if you get the burner for free -- hard drives are a very attractive option...

I didn't spend a lot of time searching the site but the drives that I looked at were all Win/tel based. Good prices though..
