New to this forum and to LR. Just purchased LR2 and now ready to install under Win/XP-SP2. Any advice on installation or performance improving settings appreciated.

Planning to manage to manage thousands of images installed on separate HD. Should LR be installed on this HD or on C drive?

Thanks for your help.

Gerry,

Allow the installer to put it in the default location on your C: drive. LR seems to perform better when your photos are on a seperate drive so you are ahead there.

Also, if you have an Nvidia graphics card disable the Nview Desktop manager. It does not always play nice with other apps. Defragged drives seem to help.

When I first installed mine it was very slow and crashed repeatedly but has become smoother and more responsive with use. I found the more I used it the better it became.....I know, strange.

Any more questions feel free to ask and welcome LuLa.
