Hello, first post in LL forums, I have a question about this brand of tripods. I currently own a Manfrotto 190D tripod, which I'm selling and getting a 055, sturdier and taller.
Now, I came across this Takara tripods, imported by a very respectable shop down here in Argentina, that look very similar in features and build quality as the Manfrotto, and are a little cheaper.
I don't mind paying a little extra for the Manfrotto, but wanted to know if any body knows this Takara brand, as sometimes there are unknown brands that are good.
And, before we get into the "Get Gitzo!" game smile.gif, I'd love to, but those are really really expensive down here, and it's just out of the question at this time...
I was almost forgetting... 90% of the time, the tripod is used to support a D200 with an old AI Nikkor 400mm f/3.5 ED-IF, SB600, perhaps a TC, totalling about 4.5/5Kg (about 10Lb).
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I purchased one of their monopods at a trade show. Great price and actually a very nice unit. I can't say its "better" than Gitzo (which I own) but the price is super attractive and I'm told the quality of the work this company produces is good (it appears to be).

Thanks, Andrew!
I'll stop by the shop tomorrow and give it a try.
