... the fact that it doesn't apply .xmp adjustments when creating a JPEG makes it almost completely useless IMHO. Anybody know a workaround for this?

It's not a RAW processor. It just extracts the Jpeg previews made by the camera at the time of shooting.

If you want any XMP adjustments applied to the Jpeg previews convert to DNG and then run IJFR again.
